Galaxy Getaway, our flagship villa!
So many things to love about the Galaxy Getaway. We searched many vacation rental communities in the Orlando and Kissimmee area, and really fell in love with Windsor Hills Resort! It is gated, has great amenities, well maintained and the best part about it is it’s only 2 miles from Disneyworld! So, next we focused in on which type of property we wanted. In Windsor Hills Resort, they have 4, 5, 6-bedroom villas.
When we purchased the villa, it was in sad shape. The owner lived out of country, and it wasn’t managed well. The colors were bad, furniture was dated, the decor was old. What we did like about it, was the blank canvas it represented! We put a plan and budget together and moved into the villa for almost 5 weeks to transform it.
Over the next few weeks we repaired, ripped things out and brought it back to life. We modernized the furniture, created a better livable space and focused on what we would want to have on vacation to feel at home and be comfortable.
We did take a day off to check out Disneyworld of course!
One thing we are especially proud of was the way the theming turned out. The Disney Frozen room and Marvel Avengers room turned out great. We had a local artist help us with that. It took them about a week to do both rooms, it was well worth it. The thing I like the most in the how we transformed the garage into a true entertainment area!
If you’re wondering how the GG got it’s name, the Galaxy Getaway, here you go. The artist was working on painting the garage and I was trying to explain to him what I wanted. We were on different pages, as he was painting just the walls, not the ceiling, trim or doors. When I went in to check on progress and saw only the walls painted black, I told him “I want to step into the garage and feel like I stepped int another galaxy!” No white at all in the galaxy 😂 After that, the Galaxy just stuck and we added Getaway, and there we go! We added some Star Wars theming to give it the right touch and even put Mickey Mouse and friends in their Star Wars gear to defend the galaxy! 😊
The Galaxy Getaway is a home away from home with the added bonus of cool wall paintings, an air-conditioned Gameroom with arcade games, a movie theater with an 86″ smart TV with 8 theater seats and air hockey.
